New Construction

Students at George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology focus on an individual “Prime,” while interacting with other disciplines to create shared projects. A student in the Instrumental Music program may be composing the score for a play in rehearsal by the Drama students. Opening night for an exhibit by the Visual Arts program may be catered by students in the Culinary Arts prime, with entertainment by students from the Vocal Arts program.

The building’s design both promotes and showcases these collaborations through transparency, connectivity, and display spaces. The soaring entrance, which celebrates the energy of the dancers and performers, sits adjacent to light-filled art studios. The state-of-the-art theatre at the building’s core anchors the school and serves as a venue where all Primes can contribute.

At the heart of the school is the Commons. This space embodies the collaborative spirit of the community, with its open aesthetic and flexible spaces. Here, students gather between classes and after school. The landing and risers of the center stair are sized to be seating or performance spaces, with views into the black box theater and sightlines to art installations.

Energetic and Healthy Environment

A healthy environment is a foundation for learning, retention, and success. This LEED Silver school optimizes classroom acoustics, abundant and flexible daylighting, and clean air.

G+P has always demonstrated collaborative decision-making, attention to detail, excellent organization, enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment.
