The newly constructed, 150-unit community welcomes residents ages 62 and up, with one- and two-bedroom affordable living apartments. Oakwood Meadow Senior Residences offers a case of creative financing, responsible land use, sustainable building techniques, and outstanding resident services and onsite amenities.

The design includes two underground bioretention facilities and incorporates a creative, X-shaped building design to accommodate the site’s complex topography and drainage system. The building was designed to have both a four-story and a two-story portion, to smooth the transition from multifamily to adjacent single-family homes, incorporating community feedback from the entitlement process.

Oakwood Meadow Senior Residences is intentionally accessible and walkable, allowing older adults to age in place. The building is 100% compliant with the Virginia Housing Universal Design principles to accommodate residents of varying physical abilities. The community includes flat, circular walking paths so that residents can enjoy outdoor physical activity surrounded by landscaped native plantings that benefit the local ecosystem.
