As CEO, John is responsible for leading our business strategy and the daily operations of the firm. His stewardship has resulted in many award-winning projects and his work has earned the praise of both clients and contractors. John’s insistence on design excellence, thought leadership, progressive use of technology, and quality control, provides a solid foundation for the firm. His passion for smart growth, sustainable design, and the community process actively shapes our vision for the future.
John is a Registered Educational Facility Planner and has planned and designed over 50 educational facilities. His leadership has resulted in many award-winning projects, including the prestigious James D. MacConnell Award and the Shirley Cooper Award. John is also an active participant and Past President of the Virginia Educational Facility Planners (VEFP, State Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE)), he currently serves on the Southeast Region Board of Directors for A4LE. John is a current member of the James D. MacConnell Award Jury, and has served as a juror for Learning by Design Architectural Awards, the Northeast Region A4LE Architectural Awards, and the Southeast Region A4LE Architectural Awards. John also contributes to industry publications (School Planning and Management and others), and is a frequent presenter at industry conferences.
